Hello peeps,

It's one of those crazy ideas again, I wonder how the Lagos state Government expect the BRT buses only to move on the yellow lane and the fact that they expect all cars and buses to stay off the lane is also crazy. Mid Last week 21-02-07, on my way home from work, LASTMA officials placed their usual orange plastic polls on the yellow lane to serve as a deterrants, but the whole episode was a big joke, as the orange polls created more traffic than envisaged. As expected, the orange polls were no where to be found the following morning. Honestly, I don't know what was on their mind when they thought about the BRT buses and its workability.

  1. Babe, i totally agree with the stupidity of the idea of BRT lanes. So i was driving to the airport 2weeks ago and swore that i'd be a law abiding citizen. Now, my company policy is that we drive no more than 90kmph and much as i felt like i was crawling, i had some cars on all sides of me crawling even more. So, what to do? It is illegal to overtake on the right hand side of the road and its illegal - so they say, to drive on the BRT lanes. Madness!! So i was stuck behind some rickety danfo for almost 13mins doing 40kmph. Now, danfo could have been a bunch of lagos theives, or may have exploded halfway through that trail. But hell, i couldnt overtake cos well, some dumb nitwit decided to give his uncle a paint contract and so came up with a reason to justify it in the books. I was so pissed that not only did i eventually use the BRT lane for the rest of my drive on 3rd mainland, i also exceeded 90kmph (swearing to crush anything and anyone that dared stand in my way in the form of authority) cos my passenger was about missing his bloody flight! What a classic joke and yet another means of frutrating the Nigerian folk. CRAZY!

  3. the lagos brt has several challenges in my view but the most serious of all is the orientation of the prospective commuters i.e. selfishness, dirtiness, illitracy, lack of decorum or respect for regulations and law.

  4. I would think the Nigerian populace need a cultural re-orientation and moral enlightenment. It's a very big task, but i think it can be achieved.
